Fees

How Accounting Fees Are Calculated in Thailand

Quick answer

What you pay depends on the work involved. The biggest factors are how many transactions you have each month, whether you are VAT-registered, how many employees you have, the state of your existing records, and whether you need year-end and audit support. We look at a few details about your company first, then send you a written proposal.

What changes the price

01Monthly transaction volume Work it addsMore invoices, receipts and bank lines mean more recording and reconciliation work. What we askApproximate numbers of sales and purchase documents and bank transactions per month, together with the number of bank accounts
02VAT registration Work it addsMonthly VAT returns and tax invoice checks add recurring work. What we askVAT status and registration date
03Withholding tax Work it addsPayments to suppliers, service providers and overseas parties may need withholding tax filings. What we askTypes of payments made, including cross-border
04Employees and payroll Work it addsPayroll calculation, employee tax and Social Security add a monthly cycle. What we askNumber of employees and any foreign staff
05Record quality Work it addsMissing months or unreconciled balances need a separate catch-up scope before routine work starts. What we askLast financial statements, trial balance, tax filing history
06Reporting for overseas management Work it addsEnglish schedules or group reporting formats take extra preparation. What we askReporting currency, format and deadlines
07Year-end and audit Work it addsFinancial statements and audit-support schedules are separate from monthly work. What we askWhether an audit is required and who the auditor is

What a proposal separates

Recurring

Monthly work

Bookkeeping, closing the books each month, the tax filings we have agreed, and payroll if you need it.

Periodic

Year-end work

Year-end financial statements, the annual corporate income tax return and the schedules your auditor needs.

One-off

Defined projects

Catching up on old records, taking over from your previous accountant, help registering a company, and closing one.

Not included unless expressly included in the written proposal

  • The statutory audit itself and the auditor’s fee. Only the independent CPA you appoint can issue the audit opinion, but we can prepare for the audit and work with your auditor.
  • Legal advice.
  • Government fees.
  • Work on past periods, extra filings and custom reports.
  • Volumes higher than the proposal assumes.
  • Anything else outside the agreed scope.

If something comes up that is not in the proposal, we tell you the scope and the fee first, and only go ahead once you agree.

Change an answer, move the fee

WMC sets fees based on the actual work involved.

We look at how complex your business is (for example, inventory tracking or overseas transactions), your monthly transaction volume, the tax filings you need and the condition of your existing books.

The form asks about each of these. Change an answer and watch your fee level move up or down the meter. When you ask for your actual fee, your answers go with your enquiry, so you do not need to type them again.

Before we start, we send you a quotation that sets out the scope of work. If anything falls outside that scope, we quote it for your approval first, so there are no hidden fees.

Your company

Other services you need

Optional. One-off work is quoted separately, so it does not move the meter.

Your fee level

Lower

The meter shows a level, not a price. Your actual fee comes in our quotation.

What we need to assess your scope

  • 01Your company name and registration details
  • 02Whether you are VAT-registered, and since when
  • 03Roughly how many transactions you have each month, and how many bank accounts
  • 04How many employees you have
  • 05Your latest financial statements and tax filings, if you have them
  • 06Any reports your overseas management needs

Why we assess before quoting

A quote based on company size alone can leave out missing months, gaps in VAT filings, or overseas payments that need withholding tax.

A short review up front lets us agree in writing what is covered each month and what is not.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does accounting cost for a foreign-owned company in Thailand?

It depends on your transaction volume, whether you need VAT and payroll, the state of your records and the reporting you need. Instead of a fixed price list, we send a proposal after a short review.

Is the audit fee included in monthly accounting?

No. The independent auditor charges their own fee, and only the appointed CPA can issue the audit opinion. Our audit preparation and coordination can be included if the proposal says so.

Do I pay more if my records are incomplete?

Yes, for the catch-up. Bringing records up to date is quoted as a separate job, and the monthly fee is based on the normal workload after that.

Does a company with no income still need accounting?

In most cases, yes. A registered Thai company generally still has to keep records and file returns, even with little or no activity. The work is usually lighter, but it depends on your registrations and filing obligations.

Can monthly work be quoted as a set amount?

Yes. Once we have agreed volumes, services, reporting and responsibilities, we can propose a fixed monthly fee. Anything beyond what the proposal assumes is quoted separately and agreed with you first.
